Jaya Bachchan, at an event recently, ridiculed Akshay Kumar's 2017 film, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha questioning its title. She even referred to it as a 'flop film'. Prerna Arora, co-producer of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, has now reacted to Jaya Bachchan's statement.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha

She revealed that being a huge fan of the veteran actress, the statement was particularly painful.  To me, she is the best. I can see Guddi, Uphaar, Abhimaan, and Mili at any time, anywhere, and feel content about life. It is, thus, very painful to hear her say that our film Toilet Ek Prem Katha was a failure. Ma'am should look at the box office collections. Our film made a very handsome profit.

Prerna Arora came to its defense

Arora confessed that even the team had doubts about the title of the film at first, as it seemed like a risky move to have the word toilet in it. But after some deliberation, they went ahead with it. She also revealed that she has always been ready to take risks as a producer. She also added that Jaya Bachchan herself made bold risks in her own life. The director stated, "Jaya Ma'am was taking chances with every role she did. She acted Doosri Sita, where she acted a woman who kills her wife-beating husband. She ended by saying that she's proud of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and that she'd love to play it for Jaya Bachchan—if the veteran is willing to watch the film.

Yeh toh flop hai

She Conclave, Jaya Bachchan was questioned over movies that fit government-sponsored social causes. When Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was mentioned as an example, the seasoned actress did not mince words, challenging its very title. "Look at the name, if you please!I would never go watch a movie like that. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha—is this a movie title?" she was forced to ask. She then turned to the audience, asking them if they would watch a movie with such a title. When few people in the audience had their hands up, Bachchan replied, "Out of so many people, hardly four people want to watch the movie; it's very sad."
